About Redgull Data
(incorporating some dull bits of biography and opinions)

Vincent Jones, head of Redgull Data Limited, shown here with Jim, his much missed fellwalking companion with Great Gable in the background. He has two daughters, a BEng (Electronic Engineering) and an MSc (Statistics), a Class I HGV licence, a black belt in karate and a certificate saying that he can swim the length of the swimming baths at Walkden (25 yards). He is married to the London University Shakespeare scholar Professor Elizabeth Schafer.
Redgull started in 1994 when many large companies looked to outsource their expertise.
As a result, a lot of competent programmers became freelancers, to the extent that many large companies became short of inhouse expertise, which of course increased further the demand for outsourced analysis and programming.
From the heady days of 1994, Redgull had a few learning curves to navigate. The expertise developed over thirty years has been a valuable asset. Redgull supplies the expertise as and when it is required by the clients' management.
Now focussed primarily in solid-tumour oncology, Redgull has also provided programming and consultancy in direct marketing, in customer databases, data warehousing, telecommunications optimising, customer segmentation and lifetime analysis. Recent work has included patient questionnaire development and factor analysis.
Redgull's policy has always been open-ended on the client side, which means that the client can terminate a contract, without giving notice, or even a reason. We only work alongside clients whilst they are happy to do so. Nobody, as yet, has terminated earlier than the initial contract.
Prior to Jones reaching his 30s and working at a desk, he earned a crust at different times by long-distance lorry driving, working off the coast of Africa on oil exploration vessels, making pizzas, teaching English in Italy, playing hurdy-gurdy in what might be described as a grunge band and working in a care home for seriously challenged adolescents. He also had nine months on an archaeological survey and found a deserted medieval village (a DMV) in the Lancaster district.

Redgull Data Ltd. has been happy to support Salford Rugby League Football Club, known as The Red Devils since 1934 (beware of pale imitations, for example, a soccer club from the Borough of Trafford who have taken this name).
Hard times are with the club currently, but we remain optimistic.

Why "Redgull Data"?
Is it because we gain insights by sweeping down, like some anarchist seagull, on your data as if they're a bag of chips and snatch 'em?
No, sadly, it's more prosaic than that. When the accountants who sold off-the-shelf limited companies were contacted, this was the only one that had a name that had any association with the stuff that we do.
